It’s no secret I love hill sprints, but on Friday I had eight. Which seems like a lot really. And I had no idea how I was going to feel by the end of it. One of the fun aspects of hill sprints is I never really know how consistent I am being while I’m out there but I get to look at my geeky stats afterwards. My main goal with this was to run the whole way, because last time I did them I couldn’t run the whole way – I ended up stopping about half way for a few seconds. Now either I’m a lot stronger, or I’m a lot more consistent because I did manage to drag myself up that hill without stopping.
And if I was being really geeky I could compare that to the last time I did hill sprints (benefit of always running in the same place) which was about 4 months ago (thanks injury!) and now my sprints over the same distance are about 8 seconds faster. Which is the great thing about recording EVERYTHING. At this stage I rarely get PBs so it can be easy to feel like you aren’t progressing that much. But things like this show you just how much progress you are actually making.
